By Chief Jonathan Riffe
November 6, 2008

Thursday November 6, 2008 at 0904 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe), Lieutenant 6 (Thrasher), Sergeant 6 (Morris), Squad 6 (Nasti), and Ambulance 68 (Fitzgerald) were alerted for the auto accident at Stinnett Road and Symphony Lane. While responding, Communications advised police were on the scene advising property damage only. Seconds later, units arrived to find a single-vehicle that had clipped a telephone pole, trapping the lone occupant (driver). The Driver and one firefighter of the Squad handled securing and stabilizing the vehicle, while two other firefighters went to work removing both front doors as well as a partial roof removal with both HURST "O" Cutters and HURST Maverick Combi-tool. At the same time, Ambulance 68's crew was treating and packaging the patient. The total extrication took less than 7 minutes and all units cleared at 0940 hours. The patient was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 68 and the Medic Unit.

While Squad 6 was returning, they handled a seperate medical local along with Ambulance 69 (3rd crew in quarters).
