As a resident of Calvert County, and a small business owner in Owings, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every VOLUNTEER fire department in the county. During this winter's snow storms, you all have been there for us, even if we never needed your services. It is gratifying to know that you are poised and ready, even in the worst of conditions! Thank you for all of your hard work and support!

Thanks for all the great help Friday night shoring up the beach at Plum Point with sand bags and providing lot's of manpower food, water and lights. You guys did a super job and deserve a huge thank you.
You also captured and posted some great photos of the storm and it destructive power. Looking at them I wonder after the storm if the propane tanks pictured under the deck with the huge set of racked stairs would be a fire/safety concern?

This is a great website...I applaud Volunteer Firefighters for your dedication for saving lives and preserving property. You are true heroes! Just thought I would share a poem/prayer I wrote for firefighters.
Warriors of the Flame
I hear the fire bell ringing-
As though calling out my name,
I scramble into boots and gear,
A Warrior of the Flame…
Our engine starts a-rollin’ now
My heart is beating fast-
I bow my head and say a prayer,
As pumpers are dispatched.
We really need your guidance, Lord,
With every step and turn
Even though we walk through fire-
I pray we’ll not be burned.
Be a shield around this crew,
Surround us-- this I ask,
Let’s knock this down together Lord,
Be with us in this task-
Help us find each beating heart
That’s hidden in the haze
Be our eyes and be our ears
As we battle through this blaze…
Give us strength to fight the fight
Til all embers have been tamed-
Then we’ll roll our hose and head ‘er home,
We Warriors of the Flame!
Hello:
I grew up in the state of Maryland and I lived there for 36 years before I moved to Hollywood, CA. I still feel a real connection to MD. I have participated in the Corvette drawing for many years and I plan to do so again this year. I always get a bit excited to get the tickets back, because I love Vettes and I love MD much. So I guess it makes me feel like I am home again. I am working on my doctorate degree and I have also worked in entertainment for many years here as well. If you get a chance to look me up, please go to my website. I must say Calvert County is very beautiful and I know the Fire Dept there does a great job and impacts os many lives so positively!! My Best to all of you.

I want to thank all the emergency personnel from your station that responded to the call on July 1st for the single vehicle accident on Sandy point Road. That was my nephew that was flown out. He is still in the trauma critical care center. He underwent surgery on his skull to remove part of it and remove a massive blood clot. He has undergone two more surgeries since then. He just opened one eye this past weekend. His father asked him to close and blink his eye if he heard him speaking and if he felt him touching his leg....he responded. What a relief! With your help along with PFVFD you helped give my nephew a second chance to life along with the trauma team of nurses and doctors. The first few minutes are the most critical moments to first responders and on behalf of my family, we want to thank you so much!

I wish to offer my condolences for the passing of Sandra Kay Nims. Sandra and I were friends and coworders for many years and she will be missed greatly. She was a loving person with a great zest for life. I did not realize she held so many positions with the HVFD until your website posted it. My son was a member of the Mechanisville Fire Dept and passed away in 2003. Sandra was a great support for me. She was a remarkable person.
Hello 6-03-2009
I thank you for the follow up on getting Corvette raffle tickets to me early again this year. I had a beautiful 1965 Nassau Blue Corvette in Joliet Illinois back in the good old days. One accident was my fault, but 4 others were not on the corvette. It was in repair 8 months one year, the day I sold and moved to Palm Harbor Florida which is by Clearwater Florida, It had its 5th accident, to the new owner, which was the Fire Chief's son in Joliet illinois. Glad I sold that one. Months before I sold the corvette, I WON a new 1968 Chevy Camero and left for Florida. I really love Corvettes and hope to be lucky and win this black 1967 fast back vette. Its beautiful.
Thank you all for the wonderful job you do in helping saving peoples lives and homes. God bless you all up there.
Thank you kindly
