This past Sunday May 15, 2011 the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department sponsored and hosted the "Hope for Hunter" Yard/Bake Sale. Hunter Scott, an energetic, enthusiastic 7 year old little boy has been battling cancer for the past couple of years, which has now turned terminal. Since this time, the county (with many people complete strangers) has grown very close and developed a bond because of lil' Hunter. At 6:30 am Sunday morning, the parking lot was already full with people awaiting for the festivities to begin at 8 am. During the 4 hour sale (8 am-Noon), hundreds of citizens showed up to view the several dozen 8' long tables that had been set up with a large variety to choose from in addition to the baked goods. The event was a major success, the weather held up, and well over $1,000 was raised for this wonderful benefit. In addition, while parents shopped, the children were kept busy with the firefighters (5 crews) with fire truck rides all morning/afternoon. Many thanks to everybody that made this a success!
