By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
April 19, 2005

Early this morning at 0139 hours, Company 1 (North Beach), Company 15 (Navy Base), Company 5 (Dunkirk), Company 42 (Deale), and Company 6 (Huntingtown) were alerted for the house fire in the 4000 Block of 1st Street. Supplemental information advised that at least two houses may be on fire and people were possibly trapped (turned out to be negative). Chief 1 (Freesland) and Company 1 units arrived to find a house (under construction) fully involved, with three neighboring houses also on fire. A second alarm was quickly transmitted bring Engine 61 as the 1st due engine, Engine 41 (Shadyside), Engine 91 (Lothian), Tower 2 (Prince Frederick), and Ambulance 59.

Chief 1 established the Command and quickly began sectoring off units. Chief 5 (Wells) had the Side "A" command while Chief 1A established the Side "C" command. Chief 5B (Miles) and Chief 6C (Spriggs) handled Accountability. All units quickly deployed multiple handlines and brought what could of been much worse quickly under control within thirty minutes of dispatch. One house was destroyed and three others suffered interior/exterior damage. Units operated on the fireground until after 0400 hours.

Units from Huntingtown: Chief 6C (Spriggs), Engine 61 (Lt Montgomery), Tanker 6 (F/F Nasti)
