Friday November 20, 2009 at 1156 hours, Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6B (Thrasher), Squad 6 (Nasti), and Ambulance 68 (Fitzgerald) were alerted for the serious auto accident at Route 261 and Summer City Blvd (104 box). Units from the North Beach VFD arrived on the scene of a two-vehicle T-bone collision with one person trapped. The crew from Squad 6 arrived and due to being blocked out of the scene because of police vehicles and backed up traffic had to extend the hydraulic HURST tool lines 300 feet. Once this was accomplished, the Squad crew went to work quickly extricating a priority 1 driver by forcing the door with the 32" Jaws. Two patients were flown to PG Shock Trauma via Trooper 2. A 3rd patient was ground transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital. After the incident, it was learned that the trapped driver unfortunately passed due to his injuries. The Huntingtown Volunteers cleared at 1245 hours.
