Just 17 minutes after clearing the double entrapment/fatal accident at Route 4 and Sheckells Road, Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Morris), Squad 6 (Nasti), Engine 62 (Ward), Ambulance 68 (Colliflower) and Ambulance 69 (Fitzgerald) were alerted for the serious accident at Ponds Wood and Bayside Road. Units from the Huntingtown VFD arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with the driver trapped in one vehicle. Again, the 32" Jaws, Maverick combi-tool and both "O" cutters were used in removing the entire roof and driver's side door. Engine 62 deployed a charged hoseline and assisted with extrication efforts. The trapped priority 1 driver (handled by Ambulance 68) was flown to a local trauma center via Trooper 2. Ambulance 69 transported a 2nd patient to Calvert Memorial Hospital. North Beach VFD (originally dispatched on the crash) was re-routed and handled the Landing Zone. Units from the Huntingtown VFD remained on this incident until 2112 hours.
