By Chief Jonathan Riffe
November 10, 2009

Tuesday November 10, 2009 at 1619 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Nasti), Engine 62 (Rountree), and Ambulance 68 (Montgomery) were alerted for the auto accident on Route 4 in front of the Huntingtown High School. Units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with a passenger trapped. The crew from Squad 6 stabilized the vehicle, as well as forcing and removing the passenger side door with the 32" HURST Jaws. Engine 62's crew stood by with the charged "bumper line." Two patients were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 68 and Prince Frederick Ambulance 48.

As units were clearing, Engine 62 was notified of an accident at Route 4 and Kyler Road. At the same time, Squad 6 was notified of an auto accident at Route 4 and Ponds Wood Road. Both accidents proved to be minor with no injuries. As units were returning, a 4th accident (also property damage) occurred at Old Town Road and Thanksgiving Lane. Units finally returned to service at 1658 hours.
