By Chief Jonathan Riffe
July 4, 2009

Saturday July 4, 2009, Independence Day, at 1752 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe) and Squad 6 (Capt Collins) were alerted for the auto accident with an unconscious person at Route 4 and Broomes Island Road (3rd due--710 box). Units from the St Leonard VFD arrived to find a single-vehicle off the roadway with the driver trapped. The Huntingtown Volunteers responded 14.13 miles, arrived, and quickly deployed the HURST "O" Cutters and Maverick Combi-tool. Within 3 minutes, Squad 6's crew cut both "A" posts, "B" posts, and "C" posts, along with the entire roof. Once completed, Squad 6's crew packed up and returned to service at 1837 hours.
