By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
March 2, 2005

On Wednesday March 2, 2005, at 1723 hours, Engine 61 (Chief 6B, Hayes) and Tanker 6 (Sgt Bivens) were alerted to "C" Street in North Beach for the house fire. Company 1 arrived to find a stove fire with no extension. Company 6 units cleared less than 30 minutes later.

Fifteen minutes after backing into quarters, Engine 61 (Chief 6B, Hayes) and Squad 6 (Chief 6C, Spriggs) with 12 Huntingtown Volunteers, were alerted to 4350 Christiana Parran Road for the house fire along with Company 1 (North Beach), Company 15 (Navy Base), Company 5 (Dunkirk), and Company 2 (Prince Frederick). Engine 151 (Capt. Wells) arrived first with nothing evident. After investigation, the crew found a house charged with smoke and a small fire in the basement. Engine 151 quickly extinguished the fire while crews from Company 1 assisted in checking for extension. Command (Chief 1A) held Company 1, Engine 151, and Company 6. The crew from Squad 6 (1st due Special Service) assisted with Salvage/Overhaul and Ventilation. The crew from Engine 61 assisted a patient with smoke inhalation. Company 6 units cleared at 1854 hours.
