| Sunday May 3rd, the 62nd Annual SMVFA Parade was held in Hughesville, Maryland. Days before, the members began an extensive cleaning of all the apparatus leading up to the events. Sunday morning, 19 members, Auxiliary members, and our family staffed practically every single piece of apparatus (Engine 61, Engine 62, Squad 6, Brush 6, Command 6, and Ambulance 68).
After the parade, the Huntingtown Volunteers participated in EVERY single competition including the Battle of the Buckets, Bucket Brigade, EMS Competition, and Firefighter Tri-Atholon. Around 1800 hours, awards were handed out. Huntingtown VFD won first place in two out of the four competitions. Huntingtown VFD placed 1st in the EMS Competition. In the bucket brigade, Huntingtown VFD placed 5th. Members, Lt. Ricky Grierson and David "Pony" Williams won first place in the Firefighter Tri-Atholon. Huntingtown VFD Brush 6 finished for Best Appearing Brush Truck. Engine 61 placed 3rd for Best Appearing Engine.
Thanks to all the dedicated Huntingtown VFD members, SMVFA, and Hughesville VFD. Also, many thanks to our fellow brothers on the Eastern Shore for filling-in with their Engine and an Ambulance crew for Ambulance 69.
