Huntingtown VFD Member Rescues One From Trailer Fire

Huntingtown VFD member Ty Lester is being credited with rescuing a woman from a trailer fire Friday April 17th. A few years ago, T. Lester moved to Moscow, Idaho where he is a member of the Moscow VFD (and still travels back to Huntingtown VFD frequently). Firefighters got the call at about 9:30 a.m. and were able to quickly knock down the fire at the Apex Trailer Park on East Palouse River Drive. Engine 27 (T. Lester-OIC) arrived on scene with fire showing. T. Lester assumed command until the arrival of the first in officer. The 200' pre-connect was advanced to Side "B", T. Lester and one additional firefighter forced the door with an axe and found moderate heat conditions in the living room hallway with fire in one bedroom, the kitchen, and hallway. During the search of the residence, a victim was found to be unrepsonsive and not breathing. Crews removed the victim, initiated CPR, revived the victim and transported to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, Idaho.
