| Sunday March 1st, the East Coast was slammed with snow, sleet, freezing rain, ice, and high wind gusts. That afternoon, the storm reached Calvert County dumping over 1 foot of snow with wind gusts 30 + mph knocking out power. The Huntingtown VFD provided coverage to the citizens of the County by staffing every piece of equipment and responding on dozens of calls for service Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Many members resided at the station during this period with little or no sleep.
The calls ranged from a house fire, several trees down/wires down, trees through houses, service calls, and two "technical rescues" involving children sledding deep in the woods and becoming injured at the base of the ravines.
Many thanks to the dedicated Volunteers during this time period.
