Sunday December 7, 2008 at 0958 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers and surrounding departments were alerted to 1030 Stephen Reid Drive for the house fire, with supplemental information reporting a kitchen fire. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Engine 61 (Nasti), Engine 62 (S/O Bowen), Squad 6 (Buckler), Tanker 6 (Hardesty), and Ambulance 69 (Miller) arrived to find smoke showing from the one-story residence. Engine 61 quickly stretched the 200' pre-connect and found a grease fire that had extended into the cabinets with minor extension into the walls and ceiling. Squad 6 opened up around the affected area, checked with the Thermal Imager, and vented horizontally. All other mutual aid units staged on their apparatus Within 10 minutes the box assignment was held to Huntingtown VFD only. At 1038 hours, Command was terminated.
