By Chief Jonathan Riffe
July 28, 2008

Monday July 28, 2008, at 2107 hours, Ambulance 69 (Buckler) was dispatched to Persimmon Hills for the medical. Upon arrival, a child was found with a head injury requiring transport to a trauma center. This alerted Engine 62 (Lt Thrasher) to the run, which established the Landing Zone for the Trooper.

Shortly after backing into quarters, at 2150 hours, Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Lt Kerns), Engine 62 (Lt Thrasher), Ambulance 69 (Buckler), and Ambulance 68 (Stewart) were alerted for the auto accident on Ponds Wood Road. Units arrived to find a single-vehicle that had crashed into a house, causing the electrical meter to begin burning. The unconscious driver was quickly removed once power was secured to the house. This patient was also air-lifted to a local trauma center. Engine 62 handled the Landing Zone.

With the above 4 crews and 2 Chiefs operating on the above incident, Engine 61 (Robison) was alerted to Applebee's in Prince Frederick for the gas fire, but was placed in service shortly after arrival.

Not long after, Chief 6B (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Lt Kerns), Engine 62 (Lt Thrasher), and Ambulance 69 (Stewart) were alerted for the motor vehicle accident at the Route 2/4 Split in Sunderland. Units arrived to find the same and cleared shortly after.
