By Chief Jonathan Riffe
July 4, 2008
With Chief 6B, Engine 62, Squad 6, and Tanker 6 operating on the Parkers Creek Road house fire, Engine 12 (North Beach VFD) was filling in at the quarters of Huntingtown VFD. Additional Huntingtown crews remained in quarters to staff the brush units and both ambulances (only pieces left in the building). At 2026 hours, Communications alerted units to 3080 Hunting Creek Road for the house fire (601 Box). 2 Huntingtown Volunteers (Montgomery Jr--OIC of E-12 and J. Miller) jumped on Engine 12 for staffing. In addition, Captain. 6 (Collins) and Ambulance 69 (Colliflower) responded to the call. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived to find heavy fire showing. Captain 6 established Command as the crew from Engine 12 stretched a 200 ft 1 ¾ attack line to the front door, quickly forcing entry. 2 members from Engine 12 quickly placed a line in service knocking down all fire. The additional 2 firefighters conducted a primary search on the first floor (negative) and opened up for the attack crew. The Huntingtown Volunteers remained on the scene until 2139 hours.
