With temperatures well into the 90's, today, Monday June 9, 2008, at 1042 hours, Chief 6B (Montgomery), Engine 62 (Lt Kerns), and Tanker 6 (Montgomery, Jr) were alerted to 925 Skinners Turn Road for the commercial building fire. First arriving Dunkirk units arrived reporting heavy smoke showing from a multi-occupancy commercial building. Upon entry, heavy smoke was also found on the 1st floor. Engine 62 arrived, laid a secondary supply line to Side "C" and advanced the 400' line into the basement checking for extension (negative). Upon completion of this, Engine 62's crew was assigned to assist on the 1st floor with opening up and overhaul. The small fire was quickly extinguished and units returned to service shortly before 1200 hours. A Working Fire Dispatch was sounded bringing a 3rd crew from quarters, Squad 6 (Grierson, M). The Huntingtown Ladies Auxiliary Canteen Unit also responded to the fireground with cold beverages. Chief 6B handled Water Supply.
