By Chief Jonathan Riffe
May 15, 2008
Yesterday evening, 40 firefighters from surrounding jurisdictions gathered at the Huntingtown VFD for a spaghetti dinner and Line of Duty Death (LODD) presentation. On April 16, 2007, Prince William County Fire (Virginia) reported their 1st LODD when Firefighter Kyle Wilson became trapped in a burning home. 3 MAYDAY's were declared. However, due to wind gusts of 48 mph and the construction of the home, FF Wilson perished in the fire.
Several lessons were learned yesterday evening as the entire incident was discussed overviewing the 350 page critique. Thanks to Prince William County and all the guests in attendance.
