| Wednesday April 30, 2008 at 1038 hours, the 211 Box was alerted at 60 Sherry Lane (Jaspers Restauraunt) for "smoke coming from the roof". This assignment brought Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 and Squad 6. While en route Communications advised they were receiving numerous phone calls. The Prince Frederick VFD arrived and initially reported nothing evident. Engine 71 (St Leonard) arrived, picking up Engine 21's line. As Engine 61 arrived, black smoke was now visibile from the roof. Chief 6 established the "Prince Frederick" command. Engine 61's driver threw a ground ladder as Engine 61's crew quickly deployed the 200' pre-connect to the roof along with Squad 6. Huntingtown crews found a large exhaust fan (controls the wood burning stove) on fire with minor extension into the roof. The fire was quickly brought under control within minutes. Engine 71's crew secured the electricity, checked for extension in the restauraunt with the TIC (negative), and cleaned the wood away from the stove. Due to moderate smoke conditions in the establishment, Tower 2 set up PPV at the front door, while a smoke ejector was placed above the roof hatch. At 1152 hours, Command was terminated and units returned to service.
