First Due Kitchen Fire for Huntingtown Volunteers

10 minutes before noon on Tuesday March 4, 2008, the Huntingtown Volunteers and mutual aid units were alerted to 920 Dalrymple Road for the house fire. Another call reported a patient with burns to the hands. Chief 6 (Riffe) and Lieutenant 6 (Thrasher) arrived to find smoke showing from a one-story wood frame house. The "All-Star" crew from Engine 61 (Driver-Chief 6B, OIC-Chief 6A, Lineman-Chief 6C) arrived next. Chief 6C quickly ran the line inside and found the stovetop and cabinets on fire, along with extension into the ceiling and walls. Squad 6 (Hengstenberg), Tanker 6 (Cox, D), and Ambulance 68 (Lt Clay) also responded. Engine 61 knocked down all fire while the crew from Squad 6 established PPV, secured Utilities, and began overhaul. Within 10 minutes, the entire Box was downgraded to Engine 61, Engine 51, Squad 6, and EMS units. At 1248 hours, remaining units cleared the scene.
