| Monday September 10, 2007 during an intense thunderstorm, at 2251 hours, Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Company 7 (St Leonard), Company 83 (Benedict), and Tanker 6 (Huntingtown) were alerted to 5930 Macs Hollow Road for the house fire. Tanker 6 (Morgan) responded along with the other units. While in route (and no units on scene), a major lightning bolt struck the tower controlling Communications causing the radios to enter "Fail Soft" and a brief period of silence. Chief 6 (Riffe) was advised by Chief 2A (D' Agostino) to relay information between Operations and Communications via telephone.
Minutes later, Company 2 units arrived to find heavy fire showing from the rear porch, basement, 1st floor, and entire attic. Hearing this information, Chief 6, Chief 6B (Montgomery), and Engine 61 (Hengstenberg) headed that way and were brought 1st due to the Working Fire Dispatch. Upon arrival, Engine 61 was advised to handle RIT, but was quickly re-directed to the Basement division to assist Interior crews. The fire was quickly knocked down, and all searches proved negative. Excellent job by all crews and Communications. Remaining Huntingtown units returned to service at 0038 hours.
