With the Squad being out of service for several weeks, we were grateful to finally have it returned from Johnson and Towers and back in service before the holiday. With less than 24 hours back, the first run came in. On July 4th at 1600 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers, along with Squad 5, Ambulance 58 (Dunkirk), and Medic 103 were alerted for the serious auto accident with one unconscious at Route 4 and Lower Marlboro Road. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6C (Hayes), Squad 6 (Muholland), Engine 62 (S/O Collins), Ambulance 68 (Gadway), and Ambulance 69 (Hayward) arrived to find a two-vehicle "T-bone" accident with two trapped in two seperate vehicles. The patient in the SUV was extricated by Squad 5 with a removal of the driver's door. The crew from Squad 6 utilized both sets of "O" cutters and "Maverick" tool to free the passenger's side door along with complete removal of the roof. Squad 5 also assisted with their tools after removing the door. Both patients were in and out of consciousness and suffering from internal traumatic injuries. They were both air-transported to PG Shock Trauma via Trooper 7. A 3rd patient was ground-transported to Calvert Memorial. Remaining units returned to service shortly before 1700 hours.
