By Chief Jonathan Riffe
May 6, 2007

On Sunday May 6, 2007 at 2209 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for the first-due trailer fire along with Engine 51 (Dunkirk), Company 1 (North Beach), and Tanker 2 (Prince Frederick). Units from Huntingtown immediately hit the street with Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 (S/O Collins), Engine 62 (Sgt Kerns), Squad 6 (Nasti), Tanker 6 (Fitzgerald), and Ambulance 68 (Dickerson). Chief 6 arrived first on location of 735 Claggett Road with heavy fire showing. Bystanders on-scene advised that the occupants were unaccounted for. Chief 6 established command and received confirmation from another neighbor that the occupants had left minutes before.

Engine 61 laid a supply line, and advanced an attack line to the front door and began extinguishing the bulk of the fire. The majority of the floor collapsed prior to our arrival which hindered efforts. The crew from Squad 6 arrived and was designated with a mutlitude of tasks. One FF utilized a K-12 saw to make three large openings in the trailer to reach the majority of the fire. The driver set up PPV and several lights. The remainder of the crew confirmed a primary search. Engine 62's crew handled the secondary search. Engine 51 advanced a back-up line and Engine 11 was designated RIT. Tower 1 handled ventilation and removed several windows.

A Working Fire Dispatch was alerted but quickly cancelled into the incident. An excellent job by all units on the fireground! Huntingtown units remained on the scene until 0034 hours.

Units: Chief 6, Chief 6A, Chief 6B, Chief 6C, Engine 61, Engine 62, Squad 6, Tanker 6, Ambulance 68
