| On Friday, April 6, 2007 at 1032 hours, Box 606 was alerted at 55 Walnut Creek Road for the stove fire. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 (Rountree), Squad 6 (Morgan), Tanker 6 (Wells), and Ambulance 69 (Grierson, M) arrived to find smoke showing from a two-story house. Chief 6 established the Command as the Engine crew quickly deployed the attack line. Upon entry crews found moderate smoke conditions along with the stove, microwave, and kitchen cabinets on fire. In the kitchen was an elderly gentleman attacking the fire with his cane. He was quickly removed from the residence and handed off to awaiting EMS (A-49 and M-103). Engine 61's crew quickly extinguished the fire as the Squad crew ventilated the residence and assisted with overhaul. Within minutes, Command held the assignment to Company 6 and Engine 21.
Unfortunately, this house is the residence to two of our own members.
Just 20 minutes after returning from this fire, Engine 61 and Tanker 6 were dispatched to Company 5's first due for the shed fire. Dunkirk units arrived to find a fully-involved shed fire. |
