By Chief Jonathan Riffe
February 11, 2007

On Sunday February 11, 2007 at 2215 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to 3350 Holland Cliff Rd for the unknown auto accident. While units were still responding, Communications received supplemental information advising that wires were across the roadway and the patient was still inside of the vehicle. Due to this, SMECO was notifed and the Medic Unit was dispatched. Captain 6 (Patin) arrived, established command and reported a single-vehicle accident with wires in the roadway. Soon to follow, Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Nasti), Engine 62 (Cox, D), and Ambulance 69 (Smith, M) arrived on location. The crew from Squad 6 utilized the "hot stick" and confirmed that all electrical wires surrounding the vehicle were still charged. Crews were able to extricate the victim in minutes and hand off to awaiting personnel. The patient was flown to PG Shock Trauma with traumatic injuries to his head. Engine 62 handled the Landing Zone at Holland Cliff and Fox Den Lane. Squad 6 remained on scene until 2341 hours assisting with Accident Recontruction.

Units: Chief 6, Chief 6B, Captain 6, Squad 6, Engine 62, Ambulance 69
