On Wednesday January 24, 2007 at 1401 hours, Companies 2 (Prince Frederick), 6 (Huntingtown), 83 (Benedict), Tanker 7 (St Leonard) and 4 (Rescue Squad) were alerted to 1401 Clay Hammond Rd for the house fire. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 (Sgt Kerns), Squad 6 (Cooper) immediately responded with 12 Volunteers. Lieutenant 6 (Thrasher) arrived first reporting heavy smoke showing from a two-story house. The crew from Engine 21 immediately advanced a line to the basement and found a storage/furnace room well-involved with fire. The crew from Engine 61 advanced a second line backing up Engine 21. Upon opening up, the fire was found running the pipe chase and duct work extending to the 1st floor. Due to quick work and overhaul, the fire was quickly brought under control. The crew from Squad 6 completed searches, assisted with overhaul, and set up several fans and lights along with Tower 2. Units from Huntingtown operated on the scene until 1653 hours.
