On Saturday November 13th, 20 members from Huntingtown alone attended a one-day lecture/practical exercise at our station along with several other surrounding stations. The Rapid Intervention training was instructed by Traditions Training (led by R. Riley; Chief 33; Kentland). A total of two hours were spent in class which dealt with rapid intervention training and past incidents that have caused the fire service to evolve and change. After lunch, companies moved to a local drill house off of Huntingtown Road where several evolutions were conducted.
During training, Company 6 staffed every piece of apparatus. At lunch break, Engine 61 (F/F R. Smith), Squad 6 (Chief 6C, Spriggs), Tanker 6 (F/F Z. Angelo) and Brush 6 (F/F Amick) responded to the intersection of Route 2 and Route 260 for the reported barn fire. Company 5 units arrived to find an abandoned vehicle off in the woods. Units from Huntingtown were placed in service shortly after.
That evening while at the drill house units from Huntingtown were alerted for the house fire on Summer City Boulevard. Units from Engine 151 and Company handled the call and Company 6 units returned to the drill house. Many thanks to the instructors from Traditions Training.
