By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
November 7, 2004

One minute after midnight at 0001 hours, Company 6 and Engine 151 (Navy Base) were alerted for the auto accident in front of 2185 Plum Point Road. Chief 6A (Riffe), Squad 6 (F/F Cox, D), Ambulance 68 (EMT Mclelland, B) and Ambulance 69 (EMT Inscoe, D) arrived on the scene to find a single-vehicle that had struck a brick wall at a high rate of speed. The crew from Squad 6 secured the vehicle and removed the hazard from the roadway while Engine 151 (Capt. Wells) assisted Ambulance 68 with packaging and loading of the single patient. Ambulance 68 transported the patient to Calvert Memorial Hospital. At 0040 hours, Command (Riffe) was terminated.

Two hours later at 0257 hours, Company 6 was alerted for the intoxicated subject on Hatfield Road. Chief 6A (Riffe) and Ambulance 68 (EMT Mclelland, B) arrived on location and found a male patient face down in a citizen's yard, unconcious and bleeding from the mouth. The homeowner heard the subject in their front yard moaning but it was unknown where the patient came from. The Medic Unit was dispatched and arrived on the scene requesting the helicopter. The Landing Zone was established a short distance away by Engine 62 (Safety Officer Cox) but was later cancelled due to the time delay for Eagle One. The patient was transported priority one to Calvert Memorial. Units cleared at 0429 hours.
