By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
November 6, 2004

While Ambulance 68 was committed to a priority three call in the first due, Company 6 was alerted for the vehicle fire at Lowery Road and Hatfield Road as a result of an auto accident. Chief 6A (Riffe), Sergeant 6 (Bivens), Engine 62 (F/F Hardesty) and Tanker 6 (F/F Cox, D) with 13 volunteers arrived on the scene to find a single-vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree head-on. The patient was uninjured but the engine compartment was well-involved with fire. Just minutes before arrival, F/F Sharpe from Company 7 arrived on the scene and extinguished the bulk of the fire with a PW Can. The remainder was extinguished by the crew from Engine 62. At 2245 hours, units returned to service. Thanks to F/F Sigona (Company 2) for the pictures.
