On October 5, 2006 at 1816 hours, Company 6 was alerted 2nd due to Silverwood Farm Apartments for the building fire. This assignment brought Chief 6A (Riffe), Engine 61 (Grierson, R), and Squad 6 (Dorsey) with 12 Volunteers to the street (leaving several back). First arriving Engine 21 reported nothing evident from the parking lot. Upon further investigation, a working fire was found on the exterior of the building burning the siding and extending into the walls. The 400' line from Engine 21 was quickly advanced extinguishing the small fire. The crews from Company 6 assisted with checking for extension and placed a smoke ejector in service for ventilation. Command (Chief 2; Ficke) quickly downgraded the box to Engine 21 and Company 6. Units picked up within 30 minutes.
