By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
November 3, 2004

On Monday November 1, 2004 around 1500 hours, Company 6 (Huntingtown), Company 5 (Dunkirk), Company 1 (North Beach), and Company 2 (Prince Frederick) were alerted for the house fire on Kent Road with subjects possibly trapped. Chief 6C (C. Spriggs) arrived first on the scene with smoke showing. Crews made entry into the house and found a small fire in the kitchen that began on the stove and spread to accessories in the kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished and units returned to service shortly after. One patient was evaluated by Ambulance 68 (EMT D. Cox) for burns. Chief 6 (O. Osbourn) had the Command.

The next day on November 1, 2004 at 0415 hours, Company 5 (Dunkirk), Company 6 (Huntingtown), Company 1 (North Beach), and Anne Arundel Station 9 (Lothian) were alerted for the working house fire on Stevens Road. Captain 5 and Chief 5 (S. Longfellow) arrived at the same time with a fully-involved house under construction. Chief 5 established command and immediately requested two additional tankers. This alerted Tanker 2 (Prince Frederick) and AA Tanker 3 (Riva). The crew from Engine 62 (M. Nasti) and Tanker 6 (D. Cox) assisted with extinguishment of the house and Water Supply. Units from Company 6 returned to service a few hours later. Water Supply was handled by Chief 6C (C. Spriggs). The fire was determined to be arson.

Later that afternoon, Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Company 6 (Huntingtown), Company 83 (Benedict), and Company 7 (St. Leonard) were alerted for the town-house fire on Orvil Lane. Engine 62 (F/F M. Nasti), Squad 6 (F/F R. Smith), and Tanker 6 (F/F Z. Angelo) arrived on the scene shortly after arrival of Company 2. The crew from Engine 62 and Squad 6 assisted with forcing entry to an adjacent unit and followed up with overhaul. Shortly after, Command 2 (B. Ficke) terminated command. The fire originated from a small grease fire.
