By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
August 3, 2006

On Thursday August 3, 2006 at 0533 hours, Company 6 Volunteers and Engine 151 (Navy Base) were alerted to Ponds Wood Road and Quail Court for the auto accident. While units were in, Communications receieved supplemental information advising that one patient was unconscious, which led to Medic 104 being dispatched. Chief 6 (Osbourn), Chief 6A (Riffe), Chief 6B (Hayes), Chief 6C (Spriggs), Squad 6 (Sgt Nasti), Engine 62 (Grierson, R), and Ambulance 69 (Gadway, J) arrived after Engine 151 (Capt Wells) and found a pick-up truck that had struck a group of trees at a high-rate of speed. The crews from Engine 151 and Squad 6 went to work extricating the patient in a matter of minutes. The patient was loaded in Ambulance 69 and transported to PG Shock Trauma semi-conscious along with a severe head laceration. Units cleared at 0619 hours.
