Huntingtown's Good Deed of the Day

By Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe
June 16, 2006

On Monday June 12, 2006 at 2207 hours, a local citizen from 970 Leesburg Court called the station advising that her "dog was stuck, and there would be cutting required" with no further information. Squad 6 (Sgt Nasti) proceeded to the scene and upon arrival found a quite unusual scene. "Mo-Joe", the dog had apparently been playing around a collapsible dog kennel. Somehow or another, he ran into the kennel causing one of the corner hooks to come undone and hook the dog through the eye lid. The dog was being held by one of the children and was still hooked by the jagged piece of metal. The crew from Squad 6 utilized the bolt cutters to make several cuts to remove the hook from the eye. The crew advised the dog owner to take Mo-Joe to the vet the next morning. Squad 6 returned to service less than 15 minutes later.
