On Sunday December 11, 2005 at 1517 hours, Engine 62 (Nasti) and Squad 6 (Lt Cox) were alerted 2nd due for the building fire at the Giant Food Store at 655 Solomons Island Road. Engine 21 arrived initially reporting a 18-wheeler trailer well-involved with fire extending into the rear of the store. The crew from Engine 62 reported to Side "C", picking up E-21's line and pulling their own 400' line to the rear. Heavy fire was found in the rear storage room advancing into the store. The two crews quickly knocked the fire down and then moved to the trailer extinguishing the remainder of the fire. The crew from Squad 6 placed multiple fans in service to vent the building, assisted in evacuating the store, and conducted the secondary search. Due to the the potential, Command (Chief 2A; D'Agostino) requested the Working Fire Dispatch bringing 3 additional Engine Companies. At 1737 hours, Huntingtown units cleared the fireground. Chief 6C (Spriggs) handled the Interior Sector.
