On August 18, 2005, over 1,000 motorcycles traveled 1,200 miles to the three September 11, 2001 crash sites. They were escorted by over 200 police officers and one single fire department piece of apparatus. A foundation, "America's 911 Foundation" was formed for the families of Police, Fire, and EMS who lost their lives four years ago. One of our own members is a member of this organization along with a member of Company 2 (Prince Frederick). The memorial ride covered the Pentagon crash site, Pennsylvania crash site, and the World Trade Center crash site. The foundation requested only one piece of FD apparatus from the nation to escort the bikers. Fortunately, Huntingtown's Engine 62 departed on Thursday August 18th and returned Sunday August 21st. Many thanks to F/F Gadway and F/F Pike for making this event possible. This is just another way we could show our support for our fellow brothers.
