| In the 1970's, the Huntingtown VFD, like the majority of all volunteer fire departments, installed a siren atop a telephone pole to alert the members of an emergency response. 40 years later, the siren continues to sound when our services are needed. Last year, due to age, the siren discontinued working. Since then, Keystone Electric Company, Baltimore, MD, has been facilitating the repairs and ultimately performed a complete rewind and rebuild of the siren’s major components. On Thursday, September 11, the siren was mounted back in place and is once again in full operation. This would not have been possible without the donated volunteer services of Hatcher Supply (use of their forklift), Bay Metal Works (use of their crane) and Prince Frederick VFD Tower 2. Most importantly, thanks to Vice President Gene Farrell for handling this task from beginning to end. |
