| Sunday June 22, 2014 at 0136 hours, the Fire Chief (Montgomery), Engine 61 (Sgt Smith), Rescue Squad (Gaylor) & Ambulance 69 (Carson) were alerted for the "electrical fire & smoke in the building" at 40 Commerce Lane, the Super 8 Motel, in Prince Frederick. Coincidentally, Ambulance 69 had just cleared a medical local from the same location 40 minutes prior. While responding, Communications advised that police were still on the scene from the prior incident and had requested the Fire Department due to the building filling with smoke.
First arriving units from the Prince Frederick VFD found smoke showing from the front door of the two-story motel. The crew from Engine 61 arrived on location and stretched the 200' crosslay, backing up Engine 21. A small fire was found in the bathroom of Room 119 which was quickly extinguished. Rescue Squad 6 assisted with ventilating the building and checking on the welfare of several adjacent motel rooms. The Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service at 0219 hours. |
