By Public Information Officer (PIO) Jonathan Riffe
May 6, 2014

Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 1617 hours, the Huntingtown VFD was alerted for the serious auto accident with entrapment at the Lower Marlboro Road Bridge. The Fire Chief (Montgomery), Deputy Fire Chief (Clark), Safety Officer (McKenny), Rescue Squad (Sgt Smith), Engine 62 (Cox, C) & Ambulance 69 (Adams) responded on the run with 15 personnel. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location and found a single vehicle that had struck the bridge abutment head-on with the driver pinned. The crew from the Rescue Squad quickly freed the elderly female in a matter of minutes. The patient was flown to a local trauma center, with Engine 62 handling the Landing Zone. The Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service at 1711 hours. Pictures courtesy of member, Dennis Hook: www.DennisHook.smugmug.com.
