May 3, 2014

Saturday May 3, 2014 at 1103 hours, the Rescue Squad (Hildwine) & Ambulance 69 (Lanier, M) were alerted for the serious auto accident at Dares Beach Road & Double Oak Road (213 box). Initial 911 calls indicated a single vehicle into a telephone pole with 5 people trapped in the vehicle including 2 pediatrics. First arriving units from the Prince Frederick VFD found 5 victims inside a min-van that had struck a telephone pole with the driver still trapped.

Rescue Squad 6 arrived on location and assisted Rescue Squad 2 with an assortment of HURST extrication equipment to free the trapped occupant and gain access to the other victims. The front driver & passenger side doors and roof were removed during the operation. Numerous EMS units were called to the scene to assist with patient care. 3 patients were flown to local trauma centers & 2 patients were ground transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Ambulance 69 transported one patient to the Landing Zone. The Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service at 1143 hours. Pictures courtesy of member Dennis Hook: www.DennisHook.smugmug.com.
