On Wednesday October 16, 2013 at 1751 hours, firefighters from the Northern end of Calvert & Southern end of Anne Arundel County were alerted for "smoke coming from the building" at the Certified Auto Service, Inc located at 150 West Mount Harmony Road in Owings. The Commercial Box Assignment brought the Huntingtown VFD Fire Chief (Montgomery), Operational Assistant Chief 6A (Spriggs), Safety 6 (McKenny), Engine 62 (Miller), Tanker 6 (Morgal, JT), Ambulance 69 (Laidley) & Utility 6 (Hayden) with 16 Huntingtown VFD personnel.
First arriving Dunkirk VFD Engine 52 reported smoke showing from the roof of an end unit 1-story commercial building. Engine 62 (3rd due) arrived on location as the 2nd due Engine Company and assumed such responsibilities. The driver secured a Water Supply for the fireground while the crew stretched a 200' attack line backing up Engine 52. A storage room was found to be well-involved with fire but was quickly knocked down to aggressive work. Within 20 minutes, the Box was scaled back to units from Dunkirk VFD, Huntingtown VFD, North Beach VFD Engine 12 & Prince Frederick VFD Tower 2.
