Sunday March 10, 2013, kept the members of the Huntingtown VFD busy on the street. After a handful of medicals during the morning, at 1159 hours, the Assistant Chief (Montgomery), Deputy Fire Chief (Riffe), Engine 61 (Lt Montgomery) & Squad 6 (Robison) were alerted for the outside fire threatening a residence on Dalrymple Road.

As members were returning from the above run, the same Huntingtown units were alerted for a gas leak in a residence on Stafford Road. Again, as units were clearing this run, the same personnel again, as well as Engine 62 (Montgomery, M), Tanker 6 (Bowen, S), Brush 6 (S/O McKenny) and Jeep 6 (Thrasher) were alerted for the large brush fire on Bowie Shop Road. Members arrived on location finding the same. The 6 Huntingtown VFD crews operated for 30 minutes quickly extinguishing the fire.

An hour later, the Deputy Fire Chief, Jeep 6 (Montgomery, M) & Brush 6 (Jeffery, A) were requested to 9514 Howes Rd where units from the Dunkirk VFD were working a large woods fire. Personnel from the Huntingtown VFD operated on the scene for over an hour. While on the scene, Engine 62 (Smith) transferred to the Dunkirk VFD. With three crews on the street, Ambulance 69 handled two medical emergencies.

At 1620 hours, the Assistant Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Squad 6 (Lt Montgomery), Engine 62 (Cox, D) & Ambulance 69 (Hetmansky) were alerted for the head-on accident, vehicle overturned with persons trapped on Plum Point Rd. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location and found the same with the driver pinned in one vehicle. The patient was quickly extricated and handed to awaiting EMS personnel. Two patients were ground-transported to a local hospital.

The Huntingtown Volunteers ended this quiet Sunday with 16 runs in the journal.
