By Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Riffe
February 10, 2013

Sunday February 10, 2013 at 1308 hours, Units from the North-End of Calvert County & Southern Side of Anne Arundel County were alerted for the Working House Fire at 800 Shady Tree Court. The assignment brought the Assistant Chief 6A (Montgomery), Deputy Fire Chief 6B (Riffe), Safety Officer (McKenny), Engine 61 (Lt Montgomery) & Tanker 6 (Osbourn) to the scene. As the call was being dispatched, Chief 6B arrived on location and reported fire showing from Side B of a 2-story residence. With this information, two additional crews responded from Huntingtown VFD bringing Engine 62 (Cox, D) & Squad 6 (Dantos).

One line was stretched to the exterior of Side "B" to blitz attack the rapid fire spreading into the attic of the residence. 3rd due Engine 61 arrived, assuming 2nd due Engine Company responsibilities, supplying Engine 51 and stretching an attack line to Division 2. With Squad 5 opening up the ceiling, the crew from Engine 61 knocked down all visible fire in the attic. Due to quick aggressive work and placing both lines in service, the fire was rapidly knocked down.

Command: Chief 5 (Mills); Operations: Chief 6B; Division 2: Chief 5A (Sealey); Division 1: Chief 1 (Gibson); Safety: Safety Officer 6; Water Supply: Engine 61 Driver

The 21 Huntingtown Volunteers operated on the scene until 1409 hours.
