| Today, Sunday November 25, 2012, approximately 78 people (members, their family, friends and neighbors) attended the Annual Huntingtown VFD Thanksgiving Dinner. To give back to the membership for their profound dedication, the leadership of the department holds an event every month. For the past several years, the monthly event every November is the Annual Thanksgiving dinner. The majority of the members that attend bring their family, friends and neighbors into our home, so they can enjoy the holidays with their second family, the Huntingtown Volunteers. The department handles the main course while every one that attends brings a side dish. At 4 pm, the festivities began with the Fire Chief giving thanks followed by Treasurer Gene Farrell with the benediction.
Once again, as always, it was a true success and shows the fun family atmosphere and comradery that you can only find at the Huntingtown VFD. Thanks to everybody for making this event such a success. Extra special thanks to Bowen's Grocery (owned by Charter Member Gordon Bowen; managed by Life Member & Current Vice President, Dale Bowen) for handling the main dishes.
The main course consisted of: 2 baked turkeys, 2 spiral cut hams, 1 Southern MD Stuffed ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green beans, broccoli salad, corn, deviled eggs, dinner rolls and a ton of deserts. |
