| Saturday May 7, 2011 at 1301 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6C (Morris), Safety 6 (McKenny), Engine 62 (Bowen, S), Squad 6 (Montgomery Jr), Tanker 6 (Osbourn, A), Brush 6 (Ward), Jeep 6 (Sgt Clark) and Ambulance 69 (Bevard) were alerted for the reported house fire at 4706 Ox Cart Road (619 box). Units from the Huntingtown VFD arrived on location with smoke showing from the rear of a 2-story split-foyer wood-frame house. The crew from Engine 62 stretched the 400' attack line to the rear and found a large pile of debris/trash/brush behind the house on fire that had extended to the side of the house. The crew quickly went to work stopping the spread of fire and saving the house. Squad 6 checked for further extension while Brush 6 and Jeep 6 assisted with knocking down the woods fire. Within a couple of minutes, the box was scaled to Huntingtown VFD units only. Less than 30 minutes later, remaining units were returning to service. |
