The membership of the Huntingtown VFD is proud to announce that the last firefighter has returned home. Today at 4 pm, member Dylan Smith returned back to the Huntingtown VFD from Med Star hospital and is now resting peacefully. A crew of Huntingtown Volunteers brought him back aboard Engine 62; the same Engine he responded on less than 5 days ago to the terrible fire on Soper Road. He is in good spirits but has a long road to recovery.

The leadership of the Huntingtown VFD would like to express our gratitude to EVERYBODY over the past few days. From local businesses, the community, fire service members across the WORLD, local, state, federal and national politicians, the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation, the media, the dispatchers that night (Chris, Heather, Vickie, Tim and Joy), your support has not gone unnoticed. It is instances like this that show the true brotherhood and comradery that still remains in the fire service.

Many of you have come forward offering monetary support also. The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department respectfully requests that this type of donation be made to the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation. This organization has provided assistance and support to our injured firefighters (and their family members) throughout their continued stay at the Washington Hospital Center.

Your tax-deductible donations can be mailed to:
