After an unusually quiet period of time, the past week has begun to pick up again with the normal calls. On Sunday April 17, 2005 at 2028 hours, Chief 6 (Osbourn), Engine 61 (Sgt. Bivens), and Tanker 6 (F/F Cooper) were alerted to Company 5's (Dunkirk) area at 1015 Doris Drive for the reported house fire. Ambulance 59 arrived to find a garage on fire attached to a house. Ambulance 59 extinguished the majority of the fire with an extinguisher and the homeowner's garden hose. Engine 61 arrived as the first engine, laying a supply line and advancing the front attack line to extinguish the remainder of the fire and check for extensions. Command (Chief 5A; McCallister) held Engine 61 and Company 5 for less than 45 minutes.

As Engine 61 was picking up, a first due residential haz-mat box was dispatched at 4525 Plum Point Road for the chemical odor in the residence. Chief 6 (Osbourn), Engine 61 (Sgt. Bivens), Engine 62 (Chief 6B; Hayes), Squad 6 (Safety Officer Cox), Tanker 6 (F/F Farrell,G), and Ambulance 69 arrived along with Engine 151 to find nothing evident from a single-family dwelling. A leaking gasoline tank from a lawnmower was found to be the culprit and units returned shortly after.
