| Early morning, Monday April 26, 2010, a total of 19 Huntingtown Volunteers took part in a Mock Crash drill at our neighboring Huntingtown High School. A "911 call" was received reporting a serious two-vehicle accident with a dump truck involving several teenagers. Chief 6B (Thrasher), Squad 6 (Williams), Engine 62 (Bobo), Ambulance 68 (Colliflower) and Ambulance 69 (Martin) responded to the call . Units arrived and found two vehicles involved with several students trapped and ejected. The crew from Ambulance 68 and 69 handled patient care on the two trapped victims. Squad 6 went to work extricating both patients by removing all 4 doors and the roof in less than 7 minutes. Engine 62's crew assisted with securing & stabilizing the vehicle and standing by with a charged hoseline. The purpose of this mock crash was to show students the effect that drugs and alcohol has when behind the wheel. Pictures courtesy of member Dennis Hook: www.DennisHook.smugmug.com |
