Friday March 13, 2009, Huntingtown Squad 6 and Dunkirk Squad 5 were clearing Chip's Towing in Huntingtown from a Rescue Tech class. At the same time, a high speed chase was ongoing through Calvert County due a theft. It began in Prince Frederick, through Huntingtown and ended in Dunkirk with speeds in excess of 100 mph with the vehicle traveling north-bound in the south-bound lanes. At 1318 hours, the chase ended when the vehicle flipped over with three occupants inside at Route 4 & Apple Way (504 box). This assignment brought Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6B (Thrasher), Squad 6 (Capt Collins) from Chip's Towing, and Ambulance 68 (Gadway, J). Units arrived to find the overturned vehicle with two trapped (one self-extricated). Crews immediately went to work stabilizing and securing the vehice. Once accomplished, three doors were forced open along with one complete door removal. One patient was air-lifted to a local trauma center. The other two patients were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 68 and Ambulance 58. Huntingtown units cleared at 1405 hours.
