Friday February 27, 2009 at 1115 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6B (Thrasher), Engine 61 (Capt Collins), Brush 6 (Nasti), and Tanker 6 (Hardesty) were alerted for the field fire at 1490 Lowery Road. In addition, Prince Frederick BX-2 responded on the call. Units arrived to find approximately 2 acres of field on fire quickly spreading due to the high winds. A civilian attempting to extinguish the fire suffered second degree burns and smoke inhalation. A 4th crew in quarters staffed Ambulance 68 (Elliott) and transported the patient to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Due to quick work, the fire was extinguished and units returned to service at 1230 hours.

With 4 crews operating, 2 additional crews (for a total of 6 crews) operated on a house fire on Bayside Road.
