New Years Eve, the East Coast was struck with temperatures in the 20's and wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour. As the winds and cold air began to move in shortly after 1000 hours, so did the calls for service. Shortly after 1100 hours, units from the Huntingtown VFD were alerted for the tree & wires down in the 1200 block of Emmanuel Church Road. Units arrived to find the same, with a large brush and woods fire. At the same time, another brush fire was dispatched in the 1100 block of Emmanuel Church Road. Units from the Huntingtown VFD and Prince Frederick VFD worked in bringing both of these fires under control. As units were clearing, another brush fire was alerted at Huntingtown Road & Holland Cliff Road. All Huntingtown units cleared the above runs and responded with St Leonard Engine 71 (fill-in crew). Units worked several different calls for brush, trees down, one box assignment, etc until 2300 hours.

At one point in time, units from the Huntingtown VFD staffed every piece of fire fighting apparatus including: Command 6 (Lieutenant 6, Thrasher), Utility 6 (Chief 6B, Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 (Borden), Engine 62 (S/O Bowen), Tanker 6 (Grierson, C), Jeep 6 (Fitzgerald), and Brush 6 (Miller).
