Sunday December 14, 2008 at approximately 0900 hours, Engine 62 (Capt Collins) was alerted as the 2nd due Engine Company to Calvert Memorial Hospital for the fire alarm. While en route, supplemental information was received advising that there had been a fire on the 2nd floor but it had been extinguished. Units from the Prince Frederick VFD and Engine 62 arrived to find moderate smoke conditions on the 2nd floor with a mattress that had been set on fire but extinguished by hospital staff. Crews worked on venting vertically before returning to service.
